CLUB TRIPS AND YOUNG PERSONS POLICY
SVCC is fully committed to safeguarding all of its members and particularly its younger members. We believe that taking part in paddling should be a positive and enjoyable part of children’s lives and to achieve this we aim to create opportunities for younger paddlers to participate in club trips that are suitable for their age and ability.
Not all trips will be considered suitable for junior members and exclusion from any trip will be based on suitable paddling skills and age.
- Juniors aged up to 14years will be only allowed to participate on club organised trips providing a parent or guardian accompanies them on the trip.
- Juniors aged between 14 and 18 years will be allowed to participate on club organised trips providing a ‘Nominated Responsible Adult’ (NRA) agrees to take responsibility for their safety during the club trip.
An NRA would ideally be a Club Coach but can also be an adult paddler within the same group, the Club Coach being responsible whilst they are on the water.
A junior wishing to participate in a club organised trip should obtain a copy of the following documents from a Committee Member:
Both forms should be completed and must be returned to the trip organiser by the parent or guardian of the junior, in person. Posted forms will not be accepted. A signed copy of both forms will be held by the parents or guardian of the junior and trip organizer. The deadline for this paperwork to be in place not less than 7 days before the commencement of the trip.
